I really enjoyed this one, it was a sweet romance with a lot of friendly banter and found family!
Callan was a nice and easy going guy, even if he wasn’t too impressed at first by Diego, who was sent to Sweat as a prank by his teammate. It didn’t take long for them to connect once Callan became Diego’s PT though, and they quickly became friendly and started to spend time outside the gym as well.
I loved the sexual discovery here, how Diego slowly realised that he was reacting to Callan and figured out his attraction to men. The inappropriate reactions to massages, stolen glimpses in showers and Callan ‘accidentally’ giving him a show were all entertaining to read, and I enjoyed the playful flirting between them. Their romance was pretty lust driven, and things got steamy pretty quick once Diego felt ready to start exploring.
It was a story with basically no angst in it, and the main focus was on Diego’s rehab/training and the romance between him and Callan. There were moments of Diego worrying about people finding out about him and Callan, and the consequences it might have for his career as a professional hockey player, but overall it was a pretty straightforward and very lighthearted romance.
Grind was overall an entertaining and sweet romance, and I loved the development between Callan and Diego. The friends to lovers worked well here and it was a treat to see more of this little found family!
