He was the only person who’d ever looked at me like that. Like I had more to offer than just disappointment.

I was expecting this to be an emotional read, but I don’t think anything could have prepared me for Gavin and Beck’s story. My heart was breaking for these two, and I pretty much read it in one go, I just couldn’t put my Kindle down.

It was difficult to read Gavin’s PoV initially, he was dealing with a lot of self-hatred and self-destructive behaviour, acting out and hurting people around him. He was too deep and alone in it to be able to deal, and there was a lot going on that he had been hiding for years from everyone. He definitely hit rock bottom, and it got quite emotional, but the majority of the story was about healing and recovery. It was a slow progress – Gavin wasn’t always the most cooperative person, but Beck was with him every step of the way.

I liked the history between Gavin and Beck, and Beck had a soft spot for Gavin even if he wouldn’t have admitted to it at first. Beck was stubborn, and he didn’t let Gavin push him away no matter how hard he tried to. I adored his relationship with his sister, and they were both great with Gavin. I honestly had a hard time seeing how Gavin and Beck would end up together at the beginning of the story, but I loved their relationship development.

Never Let Me Go was a complete emotional roller coaster – and parts of it was utterly heartbreaking, but their HEA made it all worth it in the end! Even if it was heart wrenching at times, there were also a lot of sweet moments and a bit of humour. I also have such a soft spot for when one MC calls the other one ‘princess’, it just melts my heart every time!

“You are the only reason I’m still here right now,” he said softly. “I stayed because you stayed. Wherever you are is the only place I ever want to be because you are everything to me, Beck. You always have been.”
