This was a new author for me, and I ended up really enjoying this small town romance with a mystery / suspense plot!
It was easy to get intrigued by Jett’s “bad luck” as he kept calling it, when he in reality had someone trying to sabotage his life. Jett was a likeable character, so it was hard seeing all these things happen to him, as well as him feeling guilty for the consequences some of the situations with his stalker had.
Jett found a protector in the grumpy bartender Brody though, and I really liked the push and pull between them. They had years of built up tension between them and while Jett had been trying to flirt, Brody had mostly ignored him. After finding out about Jett’s situation, Brody was quick to offer Jett a safe place to stay… and things quickly developed from there.
While this was book three in the series and it was clear that some parts involving Jett had taken place in previous books, I felt like the events were nicely recapped and it never got confusing.
Overall, it was a quick and nice read – I enjoyed the mystery and trying to find out who was after Jett and why. This is a great read if you’re looking for something with a little intrigue, a protective MC, some angst and a little drama!
