Being in love with your straight best friend was a hell known only to a certain number of people. And it was a group I really wished I wasn’t a part of.
Oblivious MC, check.
Jealous and possessive MC, check.
MC being confused about why he’s jealous and possessive over his best friend, check.
The Fly-Half was a sweet and entertaining best friends to lovers romance, with some long time crushing and pining, and a completely oblivious character who just needed a bit of a shove in the “right” direction.
It was great to see Devon finally get his clueless man, and they were really cute together! I loved the marking and dirty talk, as well as the hints of grey ace rep – even if it wasn’t talked about or discussed in depth. I loved their chemistry, and that Devon got to be the pillow princess he was meant to be with Jonny.
I loved how Charlie Novak wrote Jonny’s possessiveness and jealousy. It felt realistic, and while it was hot at times, it was also something that he needed to work on. I liked how it was discussed and handled, and that Jonny was ready to get help with figuring it out.
I’m having a fantastic time with this rugby team / found family and I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series!
How had I ever let anyone else kiss him? He was too perfect to be anyone else’s but mine.
