“You’ve been hurting, Lennon, and I know that. You’ve been in pain. I want you. I’m not saying I don’t. Fuck. I want you a lot, but more than that, I want to take care of you.” Something changes near his eyes, around his mouth. He’s still mainly soft, like always, but there’s a little steel in him I haven’t seen before. “I want to make sure you’re whole before I take you apart.”
I honestly had no idea what I was getting into with this story – it was such an emotional rollercoaster that pulled hard on my heartstrings!
Lennon had been through so much, and his obsession with Connor was intense. It took a while before I started to get the picture and began to understand Lennon’s motivations and feelings. The foreboding was fantastic, and Jesse H Reign certainly kept me captivating with this one!
It was a story that was both slow burn and fast feels. I loved how honest Connor was, and how he sometimes threw Lennon for a loop with his comments. Once they got together, their chemistry turned frantic, obsessive. It was intense, but their romance was also full of tenderness, vulnerability and kindness. They both made a lot of progress throughout the story and I really enjoyed their relationship development.
Heart truly was the perfect title for this story, and while I had a feeling of where things were going towards the end, it still had me sobbing. The sense of impending doom was perfectly written and I couldn’t look away even if I sometimes wanted to… It was a fantastic read, and I definitely recommend it for the next time you’re looking for something emotional and unexpected!
Since meeting Lennon, I’ve started to think that watching the sunrise is a little like falling in love. It happens slowly, and then all at once. The golden orb of light I wait for each morning isn’t there, isn’t there, isn’t there… and then it’s blinding.
