This story, oh my… I laughed. I cried. I swooned. Lawson and Oakley were precious, and their story was beautifully told, full of romance and self-discoveries!
Emmy Sanders had me captured right from the first chapter, with Lawson driving through the night to bring his best friend home with him. Childhood friends to lovers together with sexual discovery is like catnip to me, and the friendship and history that Lawson and Oakley shared? Absolute perfection. I loved the flashbacks and memories that were shown, as it really cemented their friendship and connection.
Their story was very romantic, and I was crying for all kinds of reasons. I loved how the ace rep was portrayed, and Lawson’s journey of self-discovery was incredibly well written and thoughtful. Lawson’s PoV was interesting, with him trying to figure out how attraction worked for him, while also wondering why being with Oakley had always felt right. Their relationship development was full of honesty, vulnerability and sweet moments, but also some insecurities and a bit of heartbreaking longing and pining.
Saddle to Sunup was an emotional and romantic story, and it definitely had some Fool Hearts vibes to it – which I loved. Emmy Sanders truly excels at writing these emotional romances with beautiful, epic love stories, and I just can’t get enough of them! It’s a book that I’m sure I’ll come back to a lot, and I can’t recommend it enough.
