Say You’ll be Nine was a very cute feel-good romance!
I ended up reading it in one go as I didn’t want to put it down. It was a sweet and heartfelt read, with a gentle giant, forced proximity and a faked relationship. Cooper had harbouring a crush on Nine for years, and spending a summer in a camper together definitely ignited the sparks between them.
There were a few bumps in the road before they got their HEA, and it was quite the personal journey for both Nine and Cooper, as they realise that what they’d been thinking and dreaming of the future might not be what they truly want. Nine was super sweet, and I hated how his family treated him, especially when he told them about his feelings for Cooper. I’m glad he got some distance from them and didn’t share their ‘values’ and opinions.
Nine and Cooper didn’t fully trust what they had was real, and with the initial fake relationship and Nine not being sure about his sexuality, it made sense. They had a ton of chemistry though, and they were really good together. The small miscommunications / misconceptions between them ended up driving me a little crazy though, and the story felt just a bit too long for me.
Say You’ll Be Nine was overall a very sweet summer read, and I really enjoyed the characters and their journey! It was a fun and quick read – and if a flannel wearing, stoic gentle giant is your type of man, you’ll love Nine!
