Assisting the Alpha is the first book in the Soldati Security series.
I had such a great time reading this story! The world building, characters and plot were all great and I loved seeing the paranormal representation here with shifters, magic users, vampires and fae.
I’m always a fan of shifter romances where the animal part of the shifter knows and ‘claims’ a partner before the human part does, and Ethan’s wolf was definitely both protective and possessive of Ayo. Their dynamic was very entertaining and sweet, and it was a lot of fun to see how growly Ethan became every time someone got close to his little sorcerer!
This was a fantastic debut and start to a new series – and I’m already super fond of the found family / pack! They were so familiar with each other, and there were a lot of scenting and touching, as well as playful pranks and banter!
How it begins…
“Wish me luck!” I hit shutdown on my computer and pick up the folder I’ve prepared.
A chorus of “good luck” sounds around our small office as Sally gets up to give me a hug. “You’re going to smash it.”
Tropes

- shifters
- age gap
- boss / employee
- found family
- size difference
- mystery / suspense
I spin in place and stalk forward, not stopping until he backs up against the fridge. I place my hands on either side of his head and cage him in, keeping enough distance between our bodies that he can escape if he wants to. “You smell like cat shifters. It’s been driving my wolf crazy for hours.”
What to expect

- alpha wolf shifter x sorcerer
- grumpy / sunshine vibes
- security firm
- rivalling covens / packs
- former special forces
- banter & ribbing
- murder investigation
“You. Are. Mine,” Ethan growls, punctuating each word with a thrust.
I nod frantically. “Yours.”
I am one hundred percent his, just like I know he’s mine.
