The Endgame by Riley Hart

The Endgame is the first book in the Atlanta Lightning series.

The Endgame was one of my favourite reads in 2021, and I still reread it for comfort every now and then. I felt so much for Anson, and his loneliness, struggles and longing pulled hard on my heartstrings.

Anson was deep in the closet, and terrified that he’d lose everything if he ever came out. His struggles with his sexuality were very well written and portrayed, and together with the sneaking around / secret relationship added a bit of angst to their story. What was only supposed to be one night between them ended up being so, so much more. West was perfect for Anson, and their relationship development had a lot of sweet and swoony moments!

How it begins…

All I wanted to do was collapse.
It didn’t matter how many years I’d been in the league or the shape I was in—which was pretty damn good shape—NFL training camp was brutal.
