“You’re going to be a handful, aren’t you?” I asked.
“Well, you already knew that the first time we met and I stole your coffee.”
Bratva’s Intern was an intriguing story, and I have a lot of unanswered questions and theories about Maxim and Wren!
I liked Wren’s innocence and the contrast it created with Maxim, the successful business man and mafia boss. They were opposites in a lot of ways, but it worked for them. There was some foreshadowing about a connection between them, tied in with how Wren ended up being an intern at his firm, and hopefully the next part will give some more clarity and answers.
Maxim felt very possessive and protective of Wren, and I liked how the tension built between them. Wren was completely oblivious to Maxim’s other business, and while Maxim tried to stay away from Wren and not pull him into the mafia side of things, he just couldn’t stay away from him. The forced proximity didn’t help, and the more time they spent together in the office the harder it was for either of them to keep their distance from each other. Things definitely got steamy in this one!
The pacing was a bit uneven at times, but there were enough things going on to keep my interest up. It was easy to speculate and have theories about the characters and the direction of the plot, and some of the side characters gave off some shady vibes. I can’t help but feel like this could have been told in one book, but I might be mistaken depending on how things will play out in Bratva’s Vow.
Bratva’s Intern was a promising start to a new mafia series, and I definitely have a soft spot for Wren. I liked his sass and how he still stood up for himself when it mattered, and I’m curious to see what will happen to them in the coming book!
