I was way too invested in something we’d both agreed was casual. And worst of all, I didn’t care as much about the sex as the attention. I wanted to be the one making him laugh, the one he watched stupid movies and cuddled with, the one he cooked late-night dinners for.

Over and Above was a great finish to this heartfelt small town romance series!

I’d been looking forward to Eric’s story throughout the series, and I’m so happy that he got his HEA with Magnus. It wasn’t a pairing that I saw coming, but I felt like things fell into place very naturally for them, going from tentative friends, to hooking up, to lovers. I think it was exactly the kind of relationship development that Eric needed, since he was still grieving the loss of his husband and wasn’t ready to jump straight into dating.

Eric and Magnus both had a lot to deal with, and their situation was made a little bit more complicated considering their kids were together and expecting. They managed to find their moments though, and I loved how supportive and sweet they were with each other. There was a bit of sneaking around and secrecy going on, but I could understand where Eric came from and why he was hesitant with going public with their relationship at first.

It was overall a sweet and tender romance, with great hurt / comfort and found family. I liked seeing Eric and Magnus get to know each other while managing everything that was going on. There were more to Magnus than Eric first thought, and I enjoyed the way they complimented each other as well as their grumpy / sunshine vibe. A great ending to the Mount Hope series – it’s been such a sweet and heartwarming series with great characters!

I wanted Eric, wanted to be a part of this family, even if it was hard, even if it took time and patience. Eric was worth waiting for.
