“Aw,” he says sweetly, “look at you, Babygirl.” The word hits me right between the eyes and slices through reason. It enters my brain and rewrites neural pathways.
Jesse H Reign really brought all the chemistry and emotions into this one!
The tension between Ant and Robbie was set to high from the first chapter, and Ant did his best to throw fuel on their status as rivals as well as antagonise Robbie. It was an intense and entertaining read, with all of the push and pull one could possibly want, as well as plenty of steam and kink.
Their dynamic both on and off the ice was explosive and I liked how the forced proximity amped things up between them until they finally snapped. The obsession these two had for each other was quite epic, and it was entertaining to see them trying to fight the attraction / chemistry that they both felt. I loved that Ant brought his taunts and “baby girl” into the bedroom, and Robbie’s reaction to them was everything. The dirty talk and Ant’s natural dominance was addictive and so very, very hot!
There were some truly sweet and romantic moments, and their declarations had my heart completely melting. Ant was very good at hiding behind his walls and was convinced that he wasn’t a relationship kind of guy, but Robbie didn’t let Ant discourage him from wanting more, and the slow emotional development between them was fantastic. I honesty didn’t expect Ant to fall as hard and fast as he did, but I loved seeing him lower his walls and the way his conflicted feelings were portrayed.
Poetry on Ice was an excellent start to Jesse H Reign’s new series and I’m already excited for what’s coming next! The emotions and dynamics were intense and I loved Ant and Robbie’s story so much – it was a lot of fun to see these to go from hardcore rivals to a swoon worthy couple!
We lock eyes and neither of us moves. I don’t know about him, but for me, it’s because I can’t. He’s so gorgeous and guarded, and somehow, he makes more sense to me than anyone ever has.
