Whiskey & Sin by Emily Rath

This truly hit all of my favourite feels! It was a bit darker than the omegaverse I usually read, but the hurt / comfort and healing was amazing and the slow burn worked so well between Silas and Bear.

I loved how protective and sweet Bear was, and the way he gave Silas the time and space to start processing what he’d been through. Silas was understandably guarded and cautious, and it was wonderful to see him slowly starting to feel safe with Bear and seeking out his scent and company.

Whiskey & Sin was a beautiful and emotional read – Silas’ past and secrets, their sexual tension, the suspense and angst all came together perfectly!

How it begins…

This was rock bottom. Silas stood in the middle of a disgusting gas station bathroom and the sinking feeling hit him: I never want to leave. Sure, it smelled like a urinal cake in here, and there was nowhere to sit except the toilet with a broken seat. But it was better than walking back out that door.

Tropes

  • omegaverse
  • hurt / comfort
  • forced proximity
  • size difference
  • small town

Silas was a survivor. He was a goddamn force of nature. This man was resilient. He didn’t need an alpha to be strong for him. He deserved an alpha to be strong with him.

What to expect

  • fantastic hurt / comfort
  • a tattooed lumbersnack alpha
  • “Who did this to you?”
  • mental health
  • sweet slow burn
  • past abuse & trauma
  • suspense & some action

“All my life, this is the only thing that has ever felt real to me, Bear. You feel real. This. Us.”
