Santa’s grin was positively wicked. “Oh, sweetheart,” he purred, “you have no idea what you’re in for.”

I was very excited about going back to Forestville for a holiday story, but unfortunately I just didn’t fully connect with this novella.

Ellery and Boaz’s romance was pretty intense with some insta-lust / attraction, which quickly turned into feelings. With Boaz only visiting Forestville, their time together was limited but they surely tried to make the most of it, hidden away at Ellery’s cabin. Their chemistry was great and I loved the light D/s, and the combination of sweet and steamy scenes was perfect. The little wooden squirrels had my heart all warm and happy.

It was overall a sweet read, full of holiday spirit and love, but also had a dose of insecurities and drama. I can’t really pinpoint what it was that didn’t work for me, I just struggled a little with getting into the story and it didn’t captivate me the way the stories in this series usually do.

No matter where I went or who I met, a piece of my heart would forever remain in Forestville, with the gray-bearded silver fox who had captured it so completely.
