Something Unavoidable was everything I could have hoped for when it came to Izzy and Keegan’s story, with some fantastic hate to love, hurt / comfort and grumpy / sunshine!
I’d suspected that there was a lot more to Izzy than the façade he kept up, but I really didn’t expect the extent of hurt and vulnerability that he hid. Everything he’d gone through made my heart ache and it was difficult to see him drowning in guilt and doubts. I loved how the author handled his past trauma and the anxiety it caused him in the present though, and it was very easy for feel for him.
Luckily Keegan kept showing up for Izzy, even when Izzy did his best to push him away, and I loved how the tension kept building between them. There were a bit of history there – Izzy for sure knew how to hold a grudge, and it was great to see how things fell into place between them. The push and pull was amazing and I really enjoyed their relationship development, as well as seeing Izzy slowly lowering his walls and letting Keegan in.
Something Unavoidable definitely hit all the right spots for me – the hurt / comfort was fantastic and these two had me smiling a lot with their banter and dynamic! I adored how sweet and supportive Keegan was, and Izzy being his loveable bratty self was a treat as well. Split Rock Ranch keeps being one of my favourite series, and I can’t wait to see who’s up next – I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Ash!
