I needed something a bit darker and different from the sweet and swoony holiday reads I’d been going through, and this one was exactly what I was looking for!

I loved the way Seven’s character developed through the story and it was easy to become intrigued and invested in the bits and pieces of his backstory that were dropped. Seven was the centre of the dynamic and it was interesting to see how it started to come together. The hurt / comfort was great and I loved how protective Caleb, Vortex and Havoc were. They all complemented each other nicely and between the three of them Seven got everything he needed.

The authors did a fantastic job of building the suspense through the story, it was difficult to put it down and I was kept on my toes the entire time. There were some elements that I’m not usual comfortable with, but I have to admit that it worked well here. The guys were very hot together and there were a lot of kinks and steam that I liked in this one.

Gambler’s Conceit was an intense and entertaining read, which I really enjoyed! It was a great start to the series, and while the HFN was satisfying, I will definitely pick up the next one to see more of Seven and his men!
