Surviving was great, but Keegan’s stubborn heart insisted that Kerry was the key to thriving.
I loved that we got Keegan and Kerry’s story! It was a great ending and offered some extra closure, since Keegan had appeared in all the books throughout the series.
There had been quite a lot of Keegan’s backstory in the other books, and I loved how he and Kerry managed to find safety and comfort with each other. They were both dealing with the repercussions of what they’d been through, but their story was mostly focused on healing instead of the traumas that they’d both faced in the past.
It was lovely to see how much support both Keegan and Kerry had, and that Kerry’s family had basically already decided that Keegan was one of them. They were not subtle at all, and it was both sweet and endearing to see how badly they wanted to set them up with each other. Kerry and Keegan both had their reasons to be a bit wary about their feelings, and Kerry was quite frustrating with his hot and cold behaviour at the beginning, but it was absolutely beautiful to see how perfect they were together once they took the leap.
Kerry was protective and a bit possessive of Keegan, and I loved their initial interactions – the tension between them was so thick! The mutual attraction between them was obvious and even if Kerry tried to resist, he couldn’t stay away from Keegan. Their chemistry was very intense and it was easy to get drawn into their story and root for them considering how strongly they both felt for each other.
The Beautiful Mess was a fantastic conclusion to the Redemption Ridge series, and I’ve had a great time with this found family! I love how caring and sweet Aimee Nicole Walker wrote the men here, and the continuous plot offered quite a few twists and surprises along the way. Definitely a series to look into for some hurt / comfort, found family and small town goodness!
“Playing? Is that what we’re doing?”
“Is that what you want to do?” Keegan asked.
Kerry’s nostrils flared with a deep inhale. “Fire. That’s what you’re playing with.”
