Fearless Bond was an adorable and steamy read, and Calvin and Barclay’s story had me captured from the first chapter!
A chance meeting in a dark, freezing forest, not exactly the ideal time or place to meet your mate, but it certainly worked well for Calvin and Barclay. I liked their beginning, it was easy to get intrigued by the events that led to Calvin being dumped by the road in the middle of a forest, and the forced proximity quickly revealed the fated mates bond.
I loved how grumpy and growly Barclay was initially, but he was truly a big softy – especially with Calvin. It was great seeing them together and how they navigated being suddenly thrown together and mated. As usual with Roe Horvat’s writing, there was a nice balance between relationship development and steam, even if things moved very quickly between them, and their romance was full of sweet and swoony moments.
There were a lot of tropes I enjoyed here, and their size difference certainly made things extra spicy! Calvin’s situation with his family and ex added some drama to the plot, and I liked how the other shifters came to support him. He was definitely the kind of character that deserved all the support and kindness that he could get.
I was very excited when I saw that Roe was writing a new shifter series, and Fearless Bond was a great and enjoyable intro to Beauville and the bear shifters living there. I loved the found family / small town closeness, and I can’t wait to see who will be the next one to stumble across their fated mate!
