I read this back when it was a novella and loved it, so I was very excited when Cara Dee announced that there would be an extension of the story – I don’t think I could ever get enough of Danny and Emerson!
I completely adored these two, and even if things moved very quickly between them, it still managed to feel right for them. Danny had spent some time pining and had definitely done his research about his man before going after what he wanted. The beginning created some great intrigue when Danny managed to catch Emerson by surprise, and it was fun to see Emerson’s reaction to the notes and information.
They were both interesting characters, and it quickly became clear that Danny was hiding his vulnerability and insecurities behind his brattiness. Emerson was great with him though and read him well, giving him what he needed and being honest with him. Full honesty and open communication from the beginning kept the angst low, and I loved the banter and chemistry between Danny and Emerson.
There were quite a few time hops towards the end, and even if this was an extension from the initial novella, it was still a pretty short read. I would have loved to see more of Danny and Emerson – I felt like the kink didn’t get a lot of space in their story and I have to admit I was curious about their dynamic and scenes. I really enjoyed the glimpses that I got throughout the story, and with the twins as voyeurs? Super hot!
The Story of Danny Rose was a very promising start of The Hillcroft Group series, and I’m already eager to learn more about the organisation and their operators. I loved seeing the young Tenley twins and getting a bit more background on them, as well as an elusive Darius Quinn, and I can’t wait to see what else Cara Dee has in store for us with this series!
