Jackson’s reaction is instantaneous. I don’t know if it was me throwing his words back at him or the darlin’. But his chest rises and his eyes sharpen, and oh, do I want to push. I want so badly to make his control snap.

This was a highly anticipated read for me, and Emmy Sanders never disappoints – Sweet Like Whiskey was a fantastic grumpy / sunshine romance with all the sweetness & swoon!

I was thrilled when I saw that we’d get more cowboys from Emmy, and I really enjoyed the small town feeling and found family in this story. It was impossible to not fall for Ash and his sunshiny personality, and he was a character that I just instantly loved. He was completely transparent and honest about his feelings and what he wanted from Jackson, even if Jackson wasn’t quite ready for anything initially.

Jackson was still nursing a heartbreak, but it wasn’t long before Ash had managed to break down his defences with his openness and raw honesty. Jackson was totally smitten with Ash, and even if he tried to hide his soft and sweet side behind the grumpiness, Ash really saw straight through him. They were ridiculously sweet together and their chemistry was fantastic.

There was some instant attraction between them, and it was obvious how much they effected each other, even if Jackson did his best to deny it at first. Ash was on the ranch to stay though, and I loved his personality and attitude. There was a lot of humour in their story, and it was a quite entertaining read that I didn’t want to put down.

Sweet Like Whiskey was a highly romantic and swoony story, with starlit haylofts, skinny dipping in the lake and cuddles with baby goats. It was a great introduction to the ranch and the Darling brothers, and I’m already looking forward to going back for more stories!

With a Montana cowboy between my legs in a hayloft and whiskey pooling on my stomach, I’ve gone and fallen.
And I have no desire to get back up again.
