Staring at my messy hair in the mirror, I placed my hand on my chest. “I’m sorry I didn’t protect you before,” I said to my heart. “I’m trying to protect you now.”
This story was everything I love about grumpy / sunshine! One very prickly cowboy with barbed wired walls around his heart, and a sunshiny, bossy city boy slowly breaking down the walls with affection and stubbornness. I loved the combination of sweet, spicy and emotional moments and Kelly Fox had me tearing quite a few times through the story…
There was so much tension between Em and Woody, in the best ways and the back and forth between them was entertaining. Their attraction and chemistry was intense and I loved when Em finally broke and went to ‘hunt’ Woody down. So hot! Woody’s need for touch and affection made my heart all soft, and I loved that Em saw and understood what he needed and hid under all that prickly surface.
I loved this book a lot and I’m not ready to be done with this found family just yet, so I’ll keep my finger’s crossed that Rowdy gets his own story. If you’re a fan of grumpy / sunshine with a bit of hurt / comfort and MCs starved for affection, this needs to be on your TBR!
I didn’t hate the thought of belonging to him. I wasn’t even afraid. How could I be when he was whispering sweet filth into my ears as he slow-fucked me into a morning coma?
