I was really excited about getting York’s story – I mean, who doesn’t love a good bodyguard / protectee romance together with some opposites attract, sexual discovery and suspense?

While York wasn’t a part of the friend group in Forestville growing up, his brother was and there had been some mentions from the earlier books that York had been bullied by him as a kid. It broke my heart to read what York had been put through, even if the story didn’t go in to too much detail, and I was so upset with his parents for not believing him. It was sweet to see him slowly realising that the guys had adopted him in to their group and genuinely cared about him.

Quillion and York had an easy connection from the start and I enjoyed seeing how things started to build between them, going from strangers to fake boyfriends and then more, while still being bodyguard / protectee. York’s cluelessness was endearing, and I liked how Quillion understood him and took care of him so that York could focus on his work. I loved the shower scene, it was a lot of fun to see Quillion’s amusement and York slowly figuring out that he probably wasn’t as straight as he thought he was.

The suspense kept increasing and while I knew from early on what was coming, I was still swept up in the story and the threat against York. I really liked the conclusion to it though, and the crossover from the White House Men series was a very nice surprise!

Protecting the Nerd was an anticipated addition to the Forestville Silver Foxes, and I loved Quillion and York’s story! I’m so fond of this series – the found family with the small town setting is great, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for more books in this series.
