“I’m a simple fisherman, Éti. On this island, we take people as I find them. Live and let live. If you tell me your name is Éti, that you are a woman named Éti, then that’s who you are.”

Oyster was a beautiful and emotional read, full of support and a longing to finally be your true self, but also grief and loss.

Nico had me intrigued in Salt, and I loved that his story was next in the series – even if it was a story that had me in tears several times. His family was falling apart, with his mum dying and Nico couldn’t help but feel like it was his responsibility to trying to keep his family together through it. I recommend reading the TWs as it contains the loss of a family member and grief. It was very well written and handled, but it definitely hit me hard, especially since the whole story was told from Nico’s PoV.

I loved how supportive and understanding Nico was with Éti, right from their first meeting, he was very sweet and caring with her. It took Éti a little longer to trust him, which was understandable considering her career and life outside of the island. I adored Éti and it was an absolute joy to see how happy and almost carefree she was together with Nico. They had so many sweet and romantic moments together!

Oyster was written with Fearne Hill’s usual style, full of emotions and hurt / comfort. I loved how Nico and Éti was both there for each other when it mattered, and seeing Nico being so smitten was really sweet. It was nice to see Florian and Charles again, and I’m already looking forward to the next book!

Mon dieu, I was in so deep my feet no longer touched the bottom. I should have been floundering, panicking, fighting for air. So why did I feel as if I was breathing more freely than ever?
