Instead of kissing him like I want to, I give him a small smile. “You’re my fuckboy now.”
“I should hate that, but … I don’t.” He lowers his voice. “I really, really don’t.”

I don’t know why I’d been feeling a little hesitant to start this series, but I’m really happy that I was convinced to pick this one up. It had the vibes that I needed at the time, and I loved Ezra and Anton’s banter!

I really enjoyed Egotistical Puckboy, the push and pull between Ezra and Anton was both hot and entertaining, and it’s always fun when rivals realise it’s actually attraction they’re feeling. Ezra’s antics were fun and sort of endearing, he could be a total drama queen and didn’t always know when to stop or be quiet, but that was part of his charm.

I loved how Anton could ground Ezra and make him feel safe enough to show some vulnerability, instead of the mask he usually wore as the cocky and egotistical puckboy. While there was a lot of humour in the story, it also had heavier topics mixed in such as parental pressure and emotional neglect, that added some depth and layers to the characters. It was still overall a light-hearted story, with a lot of focus on the banter and tension between Ezra and Anton.

Egotistical Puckboy was a great start of a series and there were a lot of characters introduced here that I’ll love to see more of. I’m very happy that I gave this one a chance, it had been on my TBR for far too long. If you want something with a lot of banter and humour and hockey players going from rivals to hookups to teammates to lovers, I’d definitely recommend this one!

Coach sighs. “People are gonna be worried about you two breaking up when what they should be worried about is how big your damn egos will get when you’re spurring each other on.”
