I should never even have returned today. I should have left us laughing in each other’s arms, with silver and green painted flowers on our cheeks and stars in our eyes.

Salt was an absolutely beautiful and stunning story, full of emotions, and I wasn’t at all prepared for just how devastating and sad it would be.

This story… There was so, so much more to this story than what I expected when picking it up. Salt was a read that really brought all of the emotions to the table, and even if it took darker turns at times, it managed to be both heartbreaking and heart-warming. The connection and feelings between Charles and Florian were powerful, and I truly adored them both.

I admired Florian’s strength and his maturity, and despite him being a lot younger than Charles, their age gap never felt that discernible. I loved seeing Florian through Charles’ eyes, there was just a sense of lightness whenever Florian was with him. Their love was beautiful to witness and it was obvious how strongly they both felt for each other.

It was devastating to see Charles struggle – Fearne Hill wrote his illness and struggles so well, and my heart hurt from everything these two had to overcome. I loved their hard won HEA, how Charles had to work to make things right with Florian and that their love didn’t magically “fix” Charles’ mental health. There was a lot of vulnerability in their story, along with tenderness and love.

Salt was an amazing story, gorgeously written with language so vivid that it almost felt like I was there on the island with Charles and Florian. Fearne Hill had me clinging to every word, it was so easy to feel invested in these two men, and I didn’t want their story to end. I honestly can’t wait to go back, there were some great side characters introduced and I’m so excited for more books in this series!
