“You okay if I get a little…bossy?”
Only Denver could make the word bossy sound so sexy. All the air rushed out of my lungs. “Oh, fuck yes.”
Up All Night was a sweet and light-hearted start to Annabeth Albert’s new series Mount Hope!
There were a lot of tropes I enjoyed in this book, and I really adored the grumpy / sunshine vibes between Denver and Sean. I quickly developed a bit of a soft spot for Sean – he was so open and honest, and I just found him to be a really likeable character. Even if he hadn’t been with a man before, he knew what he wanted with Denver and just went for it.
I loved how their hook ups turned into a bit of kink explorations, the mild D/s between them was hot, and it was clearly something both Sean and Denver got something out of. Denver was a bit stubborn about not putting a label on what they had, as he never really planned to stay in Mount Hope, and it created some tension between him and Sean.
Up All Night was a low angst story, despite containing themes that easily could have made it more angsty and heavy than what it was. I have to admit that I was expecting a bit more of it though, since the story opened with a funeral and there were a lot of secondary characters that were grieving. I just thought it would have been a more prominent through the story, but maybe it will hit a bit harder in the coming books.
I really enjoy the way Annabeth Albert writes her small town and found family stories, and I’m excited to learn more about the characters introduced here and read more stories from Mount Hope!
“You’re trouble.” He shook his head as we headed back down the logging road.
“God, I hope so.” I couldn’t wait to be all the trouble Denver could handle, and soon.
