Logic was not working for me now. Not where Matty was concerned. So instead of being busy unaliving an American senator like I was supposed to be, I was trailing around after a human while he shopped for yarn.
This pairing totally took me by surprise at the end of Patience, but I was instantly so excited for it! The wait was less fun, but oh my, it was well worth it – especially seeing Sebastian call Matty “my sunshine”. Swoon!
I had always been intrigued by Sebastian, and how he sort of drifted in and out of the other books, always pissing people off, but also stepping up when it really mattered. I honestly loved reading his PoV, he was snarky and sarcastic and just so unapologetically himself. Learning more about him and his past was heartbreaking though, and reading about his past had me in tears more than once…
Matty was Seb’s total opposite, and I completely adored Matty, he was just a ball of sunshine and so utterly precious! I loved their dynamic and how they were the definition of grumpy / sunshine, with Seb being completely gone and so soft for Matty. Matty also brought out the full force of Seb’s protective and possessive sides, and I loved the way Seb just couldn’t stay away from him. Seb was quite literal about the whole “touch him and die”.
There was some serious push and pull between Matty and Seb throughout the book, but their story was more of a slow burn despite their instant connection and amazing chemistry. Seb was trying to keep his distance, not wanting his darkness to “taint” Matty’s sunshine, but he really didn’t stand a chance against Matty. They were so hot together, and Matty begging Seb to bite him during some of the steamier scenes will live rent free in my mind for a very long time…
I loved being back in the Reckless Damned world, and Justice was such an excellent and well written grumpy / sunshine romance with lots of pining and angst! Lark Taylor had me totally captivated with this story, and she had me laughing, swooning and sobbing while reading. I have so much love for all of these characters and I really can’t get enough of them!
“You don’t have to beg,” I said huskily, grabbing his waistband and slowly lowering his trousers.
“I’m on my knees, ready to serve.”
