“Look at me,” he demands, and I comply easily. This probably isn’t healthy for me, going from hating him to needing him in seconds, but what am I supposed to do to stop it?
“Get on your knees and put that bratty mouth to good use.”
I was really intrigued by the blurb for this one – hockey player and rock star pairing with Daddy kink? Yes please!
It took me a while to get into the story and the writing, but once I did it was easy to get pulled into it. Jules and Sterling met at a kink club and while they only had one night together, it was obvious that they both wanted to see each other again. But life happened, and Sterling ended up breaking his promise to Jules, and they go years without seeing each other.
There were a lot of pining in their story, with Sterling leaving Jules wondering what he did wrong and why he never heard from him. Jules emotionally closed himself off for years after, and I couldn’t help to think that it was a bit of a drastic reaction since they only spent a night together. It bothered me that both Jules and Sterling were pining and hurting, but neither of them tried to reach out for over two years.
I loved their connection and chemistry though, and they were such a great match for each other! It was clear from that first night and then again when they find their way back to each other. I loved the trust Jules had in Sterling when it came to his preferences in bed and how well they met each other’s needs. They really worked as Daddy / boy, but the other aspects of their relationship took a little longer to come together.
Overall, Repair and Prepare was an engaging and enjoyable story with some great tropes, and a little bit more angsty than I expected. There were some things I wasn’t a big fan of going on though, and I felt like there were too many things happening at the same time – I would have preferred fewer things with a little more depth to them instead. It’s definitely worth a chance though if you’re intrigued by the pairing and blurb!
