The Skeptic by Kelly Fox

This week we’re taking a little look inside of The Skeptic by Kelly Fox, the first book in the Lost Boys series.

The Skeptic had me both laughing and crying, sometimes both at the same time – Kelly Fox really brought all the feels into this story! I instantly fell in love with these Lost Boys and all of the support, friendly banter and love that came with this amazing found family.

Beckett and Holden were so hot together, they instantly had fantastic chemistry and I loved to see them fall for each other. Beckett was great at knowing what Holden needed, and there were some really steamy scenes in this one!

How it begins…

“Forgive me, Father, for I am about to sin,” I said, leaning into my pious cosplay.

The heavy sigh on the other side of the confessional screen only broadened my smile.

Tropes

  • found family
  • hurt / comfort
  • past abuse / trauma
  • small town

The combination of classic truck, rolled sleeves, mischievous smiles, and tattoos was seriously going to kill me.

And that collar. That f*cking collar.

What to expect

  • a faithless, liberal preacher
  • lots of friendly banter & humour
  • hot priest / sinner role play
  • hooking up turning into more
  • loss and grief
  • the best found family vibes
  • praise & spicy dirty talk

As a man of the self-made cloth, I saw my share of drama on any given day. That said, running into Holden, getting arrested, and witnessing the beginnings of a bi awakening were not on this morning’s bingo card.
