The same hard body that was threatening me yesterday, and then pulling me back from the edge, now seems like something soft that I can burrow into and hide.

Stupid Dirty was an absolutely fantastic debut novel! Cade and Silas’ story wrecked my heart in the best way – the story and characters felt so authentic and real, and was both beautiful and devastating to read.

It was a very raw and emotional story, with both of the characters having their fair share of trauma, and my heart kept breaking for them. I loved Cade’s sunshiny personality and how he wanted to take care of people. He initially had some hostility towards Silas, but after realising that he might have been a little too quick to judge, they become friends. Silas was more grumpy, and after being mostly isolated during his childhood, he didn’t really know how to act around people. His awkwardness was quite endearing though, it was easy to feel for him, and I loved how Cade called him his robot boy.

Their friendship moved very fast, and Cade pretty much just decided to become Silas’ best friend. The relationship between them took a bit longer to develop, and I loved the dual sexual discovery here. They were so oblivious at first, while questioning why they felt as drawn to each other as they did. It was quite funny to see them react to each other and taking things further and further, without even realising that it was attraction that they felt. I liked the possessiveness and how strongly they both felt for each other, their love feeling almost all-consuming at times. There was a lot of vulnerability and tenderness in their story, and I loved how safe they felt with each other.

Stupid Dirty was a beautiful and captivating story, and I loved to see these two fight hard to get to their HEA. Cade and Silas’ love was so pure and strong, and their story was certainly worth every tear and heartbreak along the way! It was very easy to get invested in their story, and I just wanted to wrap both of them up in blankets and protect them against the world.

Erin Russell is definitely an author I’ll read more of – and I’m already so excited for the second book in the series!

I hope he knows what he got himself into when he invited me into his world, because he’s not going to be able to pry me off him anytime soon.
It’s too late. There’s no way I’m giving this up now.
