Let’s take a little look inside of Like I Pretended by Charlie Novak, the fourth book in the Heather Bay series.
Charlie Novak does a wonderful job of writing these heartwarming and sweet stories, and I can’t help but adore them! I’m really enjoying this series, and Alex and Henry’s story was so much fun to read!
I smiled and swooned my way through their book, it was full of banter and snark which I love. Definitely a highly entertaining read, and perfect for anyone looking for their next grumpy / sunshine couple.
Like I Pretended works perfectly well as a standalone, but since a lot of the characters reappear throughout the series, I’d recommend reading the books in order. There are so many great characters, and I just love their friendships and interactions.
How it begins…
I scrolled through the script on my tablet screen and tried hard not to roll my eyes at the utter absurdity of the story.

Most people would be over the fucking moon to have dinner with Henry, so why did my stomach feel like it was full of lead.. and butterflies?
Fucking lead butterflies.

Henry moaned, his face pressed against the table. “Mmm, yes.” He sighed contentedly. “Fuck, it’s hot when you get possessive. If that’s going to happen every time you get jealous, I’ll get naked on TV more often.”
