Hostile by Nicole Dykes

Let’s take a little look inside of Hostile by Nicole Dykes.

I love this story so much! A lot of Rhett’s feelings resonated with me and I saw some of myself in his character, so it hit close for me. I was a little hesitant at first considering it’s a high school romance, but both the story and the characters felt pretty mature. There are also so many tropes here that I love, and these guys are just the sweetest!

What I loved about Hostile:
• very loveable couple
• the ace / demi rep and how it was written
• the banter & interactions between the guys
• Rhett’s grumpiness
• the feels

How it begins…

I stare at the blue frosting on the cupcake in front of me and try like hell to feel joy.

Tropes

  • high school
  • friends to lovers
  • hurt / comfort
  • sexual discovery
  • opposites attract
  • grumpy / sunshine
  • found family

“We could work on being kissing friends again.” He waggles his eyebrows at me in a ridiculous fashion. Seriously? This is the one person I’m attracted to?

What to expect

  • inked up, grumpy MC
  • playful banter
  • heartwarming
  • lots of stubborness
  • time expiration
  • demi / ace rep
  • first times

Because when he does that and kisses me like this, I can trick myself into believing I belong to him.
